Manage The Round

Most amateur golfers want to hit driver off the tee, but driver isn't always necessary. Managing your round effectively is keeping the ball in play and putting yourself at a comfortable distance for an approach shot into the green. For example, if you have a 350 yard par 4, and you hit your 3 wood 225 yards, you only have 125 in. Is this a comfortable distance for you? Perhaps a full wedge shot? That doesn't seem too bad. If you hit driver, you have an increased chance for greater shot dispersion out of play and you may have an awkward 80 yard shot in even if you hit it straight.

Use this though process on each tee box so you understand how you want to play the hole before you just pull the driver out of the bag.
